An environmental and climate solutions platform building circular systems that convert waste into resources, reduce pollution, and contribute to climate resilience in Bangladesh.
FILTER Bangladesh began its journey in 2020 with a simple but powerful idea: waste is not a problem — it is a resource. From observing everyday life in streets and communities, we saw that valuable materials like paper, plastic, and cigarette filters were being discarded without any system to recover their value.
This sparked a question that shaped our direction: how can waste be transformed into something useful? What started as observation gradually turned into action. FILTER began exploring circular solutions — approaches that focus on recovering, reusing, and reintegrating materials back into the system instead of treating them as disposable.
Over time, we identified one of the most overlooked yet harmful waste streams: cigarette filter waste. Despite being one of the most common forms of urban litter, it remains largely unmanaged. This became a key focus area for FILTER, driving efforts to design systems for collection, processing, and reuse.
Today, FILTER is evolving into a platform that combines environmental action, research, and system design. Through community engagement, pilot projects, and innovation, we are working to build scalable solutions that reduce pollution and contribute to climate resilience in Bangladesh.
"At its core, FILTER is driven by a simple belief — every waste has value, if we build the right system to unlock it."
FILTER Bangladesh is an environmental and climate solutions platform focused on building circular systems that convert waste into resources, reduce pollution, and contribute to climate resilience in Bangladesh.
We work at the intersection of environmental innovation, community engagement, and practical system design — starting with one of the most overlooked pollution sources: cigarette filter waste.
Environmental Innovation • Community Action • Circular Systems
To build a climate-resilient Bangladesh where environmental challenges are transformed into scalable circular systems that create long-term environmental, social, and economic value.
We focus on designing and implementing real-world solutions that address critical environmental challenges. Our core work includes:
Developing a cigarette waste circular system to collect and process filter waste
Organizing awareness and climate action programs in universities and communities
Building a youth-driven volunteer network for environmental action
Running pilot projects to test and scale waste management solutions
FILTER follows a practical, step-by-step approach to environmental problem solving:
Identify real and overlooked environmental problems
Design simple and scalable solutions
Test through pilot projects in real environments
Engage communities and youth in action
Scale through partnerships and continuous improvement
"We believe in action over theory, and systems over one-time solutions."
Building solutions that last for generations
Finding new ways to solve old problems
Real action over theory, always
Change happens with people, not for them
Open, honest and accountable in all we do
Every action shapes our planet's future
FILTER aims to evolve into a fully integrated environmental solutions platform, expanding beyond cigarette waste into:
Systematic household waste collection and circular processing systems
Converting organic waste into biogas and other energy solutions
Partnering with industries to manage and recycle industrial waste
Building advanced resource recovery and recycling infrastructure
Our long-term goal is to build systems that not only manage waste but also actively contribute to climate resilience and sustainable development in Bangladesh.
Be part of building a cleaner, greener, climate-resilient Bangladesh.
